One Last Chance...

Load in day

  • We were one of the last teams to unload on Thursday at 4:30 in the pouring rain. The nice thing about being late is that you get a lot of help from other teams. Thank you team 5426 E.J. Lajeunesse for helping us to unload.

  • Radio-Canada asked us to do an interview about the Provincial Robotics Competition in Windsor, we were excited to be given the chance to share our FIRST experiences. Thank you, Isabelle Fleury for a wonderful experience.

Day 1

  • We were excited to be competing in our hometown, and the robot was working the way we wanted it too, (sort of). Vlad had figured out autonomous and the robot could move forward and drop a cube on the right or left side of the switch.

  • Tournament meetings for the drive team and the safety captain were at 7:30 am. Jordyn was told that we had some safety infractions in Waterloo and she was determined to not let it happen again. She kept a keen eye on the going ons in and out of the pit and was not afraid to tell someone to put their safety glasses on or to tie back their hair.

  • Mme. Pouget was once again practicing with Jordyn and Sydney for their Chairman’s Award presentation. We were hoping the third time presenting would be a charm.

  • Daniel D. felt very comfortable putting on our mascot costume again and hanging out with the other mascots. We are happy to have new friends from 4936 Viral Vortex, 6881 South Lions Roarbotics, and 5689 CK Cyber Pack.

  • Emily and Madeleine were joined by their families in the bleachers. That’s one advantage about competing at home your cheering section can be large. Julian’s dad, Vlad’s parents and Daniel B’s family also stopped by to cheer us on.

  • M. Labbe and Mr. Tocco were hard at work in the pits with Zach, Daniel C & D, and Paul. We learn so much from our mentors and are thankful for their help.

  • At the end of the first day our record was 7 loses and 2 wins, it wasn’t a great start but we were finding that we were making some new friends. Team 610 Crescent Coyotes helped us out with some electrical problems we were having. Team 1114 Simbotics also offered a hand with the intake/outake on our claw.

Day 2

  • We started day 2 with a little bit of scepticism. We hoped that all of our problems were behind us. We split the 4 matches that we played on Saturday, and we were ranked 28th at the end of the day.

  • With fingers crossed we attended the final alliance selection. We were selected third by the number 1 ranked alliance. We would be competing with our new friends 610 Crescent Coyotes and 1114 Simbotics. Both teams were well established with many wins and awards, we were looking forward to learning a lot from them.

  • Our alliance won the quarter finals using the strategy our drive teams had developed. Unfortunately we lost in the semi finals due to robot malfunction. Watching the way the other team handled their misfortune really inspired us as a team.

  • “This team emphasizes the value of others by encouraging respect, courtesy and gracious professionalism in all their endeavours.

More than building robots, this team contributes to building dreams and

encouraging young women to pursue STEM.

This team started in the kitchen - they took a pinch of teamwork, a dash of

community, and a BIG drop of spirit, and cooked up a recipe for true FIRST

success.

Congratulations Team 6331 - Sabotage”
