Water-Water-Water-loo-loo-loo

Load in day

  • We left for Waterloo on Thursday, March 22 around 9:oo am. We dropped the robot off at the university with the set up crew Zach, Paul, Daniel C. and Daniel B., while the rest of the team went to the hotel. Our hotel was near to St. Jacob’s Market so some of the team walked around the market making small purchases and taking in the town.

Day 1

  • We arrived early so our team members could get an early start on the day. Zach and Sydney went to the drive team meeting and Jordyn went to the safety captain meeting. Paul, Daniel C & B and Vlad were hard at work with M. Brosseau and M. Labbe making sure the robot was ready to go at 10:36.

  • Mme. Fortin helped Jordyn, Robert and Sydney practice for their Chairman’s Award presentation.

  • Emily and Madeleine taught Tyler and Ana how to scout teams.

  • We had 10 matches on our first day, 4 wins and 5 loses. We were still having problems with the claws intake/outtake. Some of the team were thinking we needed to design a new claw.

  • After a hard day it was decided that we would have dinner together as a team. Mme. Fortin made reservations for us at a restaurant called “The Crazy Canuck”, where we celebrated Christian’s birthday.

  • Emily, Madeleine, Zach and Mrs. Tocco left the celebration early to go back to the hotel to meet with Team 1134 Red Devils, 1374 Amped Up and 3739 Oakbotics for a scouting meeting that they had graciously invited us to. The girls were amazed at what the other teams were doing as far as scouting. The girls were introduced to a graphing program that they could use to display all the stats they collected on different teams during the tournament.

Day 2

  • Saturday morning we left the hotel with high hopes of the robot competing well today, but we did realize that it might be too little too late. We wondered if we should have used the new claw we had designed or should we have just improved what we already had.

  • Robert sent out a daily challenge (Sabotage Sweepstake) asking other teams to complete our Gracious Professionalism Badge Program found online. Players that brought their completed certificates and badges to our pit were rewarded with Sabotage Cookies! Additionally, the team with the most certified members received a bag of Sabotage apparel for their team to share.

  • Julian finished our safety video and we would be having it on display in our pit.

  • Jordyn won Safety Star of the Day.

  • We finished the tournament ranked 22 out of 32. Definitely not one of our best showings.

  • We were not selected for a final alliance, but our robot was put on standby for the finals incase there was a problem with any of the other robots. So we packed up what we could and took our place in the bleachers to watch the finals and cheer on the other teams.

  • We graciously watched the other teams compete and cheered during the awards ceremony, even though we left empty handed.

  • Time for us to reevaluate our goals.
